Dace Sūna is a Latvian designer working in light, best known for sculptural neon and noble-gas pieces. Her work spans lighting sculptures, candles and spatial installations, made to order in custom sizes and configurations.

Sūna holds a BFA in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and an MFA in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. She learned the art of neon making while living in Los Angeles, working with molten glass and the noble gases — neon, argon, krypton and helium — each producing a colour found nowhere else in nature. Helium, named for the Greek helios, gives a soft yellow-pink glow.

Her practice sits where science meets craft. Nature and its elemental states — gas, fire, water, earth, plasma — drive the work, alongside a longstanding interest in frequency, light and perception. Alongside glass and gas she also works in plaster, wood and clay.

Sūna has exhibited at ICFF in New York and at Dutch Design Week. Her Design Academy Eindhoven thesis, Cosmic Dancer, received the Latvian Design Award in the environmental design category in 2024.
