John Born is an artist and designer living and working in Brooklyn, NY. He started Humble Matter in 2014 after escaping from the world of advertising. His work uses a vocabulary of repeated shapes to create archetypal forms designed to feel like an inevitable part of history. They not only serve a purpose as decorative or functional objects, but as talismans that ground us in the magic and importance of everyday rituals in an increasingly disconnected and digitized world. John has a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
