A sculptural candle holder rendered in stainless steel, designed as a wall-mounted altar panel that folds closed in the manner of a medical cabinet. Minimal in form yet conceptually layered, the piece juxtaposes ritualistic symbolism with the sterile precision of modernist design.
At its center, a candle is pierced by a sequence of nails set at calibrated heights—an intentional reinterpretation of the ancient candle alarm clock. As the flame burns and the wax recedes, each nail is released in turn, falling onto the steel surface below with a sharp, resonant cling. These audible intervals transform the passage of time into a physical and sensory event.
Balancing references to religious iconography and clinical aesthetics, the work explores the tension between measured, objective time and lived, experiential duration. The result is both functional object and contemplative instrument—marking time not as a continuous flow, but as a series of distinct, punctuated moments.
