Tower of Babel is a hand-knotted wool and silk area rug by Temple Rugs, made to order and priced individually. It was featured in Architectural Digest’s “Space Savers” in 2024 and was a 2023 Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Award finalist.
The name changed slightly in every language, but the story is the same one: the faithful built a monumental tower — a stepped ziggurat, a golden ladder — to climb closer to god. The all-powerful did not care for the attempt, so we were scattered across the earth and our languages made unrecognizable to one another, all to keep us apart.
Temple builds that story back into a rug, using multiple yarn thicknesses and intricate hand-carving to give the ascent real depth underfoot. Each Tower of Babel is unique; please inquire for details and sizing.
