Mush Lamp (Tower) by Jorge Suárez-Kilzi

The Mush Lamp (Tower) is the tallest piece in Jorge Suárez-Kilzi’s Mush series — a sculptural fibreglass floor lamp that stands roughly one metre high on a slender stem, with the swelling cap the collection takes its name from. It reads as sculpture unlit and settles a room once switched on.

The studio builds each shade by hand, laying a fine, paper-thin skin over translucent fibreglass so the piece looks almost weightless and the light comes through soft and ambient rather than direct. The surface carries a bark-like grain that rewards a closer look and shifts as daylight moves across it.

Handmade in Spain and made to order, the Tower suits a corner, a hallway or the space beside a low sofa — a piece of collectible contemporary lighting for interiors meant to be remembered.
