Salt Point By Temple

Salt Point is a hand-knotted silk and wool area rug by Temple Rugs, made to order in Nepal.

It began as a series of photographs taken at an otherworldly beach in Northern California. The rock formations there are unlike anything else on the coast, and the inspiration they offer is effectively bottomless — craters, cracks, broad planes of sandy rock and sculptural shapes that could have come straight out of the mind of JB Blunk.

To walk on this rug is to luxuriate in the best materials nature has: wool and silk, salt, stone and tide. The pile is carved at two heights scattered across the field, so no two passes over it feel the same. Colorways are named for tides — Low, High, Bore, Rip, Brown, Flood, Red, Spring and Neap.
