Sabbia is a hand-tufted viscose and linen area rug by Vanessa Ordoñez for Malcusa, made to order at 6’7” x 9’10”.
Sabbia — sand — takes its drawing from the shapes wind leaves behind on a dune: sinuous, abstract, never quite repeating. It belongs to Earth Revenge, the collection Ordoñez made for the house alongside Dune and Futuro.
Ordoñez is a Colombian artist and designer who grew up in China and has since lived across four continents. That movement is the through-line in her work — colour, form and subject shift from series to series, drawn from wherever she has been.
Viscose gives the pile its sheen, linen its grip and matte texture. Hand-tufted over six to eight weeks, in custom sizes and colorways on request.
