Neurons is a hand-knotted silk and wool area rug by Temple Rugs, made to order in Nepal at a large 10 x 13.
The design follows the path of a single electrical impulse — a signal firing across an imperfect pathway, branching and repeating as it travels, silk steps in the right direction. Worked almost entirely in silk, the rug moves between high and low pile so the surface catches light the way a charge moves through tissue: quick in one direction, quiet in the next.
Colorways are named for the core elements of the human neural system — Dendrites, Soma and Axon.
