Considered a sacred animal in the Mesoamerican world, the serpent symbolized concepts like rain, earth, fire, fertility, and renewal. Its zigzagging movement, as well as the geometric texture of its skin, has inspired a variety of textile patterns, sculptures, paintings, and architectural constructions.
COA draws inspiration from the serpentine shape in a series of furniture pieces that connect with the essence of the pre-Hispanic past. The interplay of light and shadow generated by the angles create movement, depth, and a sense of mysticism. The geometric composition of each piece opens up the posibility for different perceptions of shapes, depending on the point from which it is viewed.
The pieces also play with contemplative contrasts: smooth and rough textures, as well as opaque and reflective surfaces.
