Geode is a hand-knotted silk and wool area rug by Temple Rugs, made to order in Nepal. The design turns its namesake rock inside out: where the stone hides a crystal interior behind a plain shell, this rug pushes the plain field inward and wraps it in the crystals — a rim of roughly fifty colors encircling a single quiet ground.
The effect is a rug that behaves like a frame, drawing a room toward its center, and that many-colored rim gives it far more life than a solid rug of the same footprint.
Colorways take their names from the formations that grow inside volcanic rock: Quartz, Chalcopyrite, Thunder Egg, Enhydro and Amethyst.
