Drop is a hand-knotted viscose and linen area rug by Raul for Malcusa, made to order in India as a 6’7” square.
A square is an unusual format for a rug and a useful one — it centres a room instead of pointing down it, and works under a round table or a four-sided seating arrangement where a rectangle would fight the furniture.
Raul paints at speed, and Nomadic Signs carries that over: marks made in one pass, colour that lands rather than blends. The collection is hand-knotted rather than tufted, which keeps the gesture sharp. Viscose and linen, made in India over six to eight weeks.
