Boron is a hand-knotted silk and wool area rug by Temple Rugs, made to order in Nepal in a generous 8’ square. It takes its name and its character from the fifth element on the periodic table — a crystalline, lustrous metalloid built out of hard facets.
Temple translates that structure into an explosion of color and chunky, deeply carved texture, worked in equal parts pure silk and wool. The pile is cut at several heights and hand-carved to a fine edge, so the facets in the rug catch light from one direction and swallow it from another.
Colorways borrow from boron’s industrial life: Pyrotechnic Flares, Fiberglass, Atomic Power Generation and Borosilicate Glass. A square rug at this scale anchors a seating group or a bedroom without needing a pattern to do it.
