Blue is a hand-knotted rug by British artist Lucy Naughton for Malcusa, made to order in custom sizes and colorways.
Naughton builds her work from found and collected material — paint, mixed media, collage, and surfaces that arrive already worn. Rather than repair that damage she keeps it, and the resulting compositions are intuitive rather than planned.
Blue is among the larger and more saturated of her designs for the house. Hand-knotted rather than tufted, which holds her edges crisp where a tufted pile would soften them.
