1984 is a hand-tufted New Zealand wool and bamboo silk area rug by Betta K for Malcusa, made to order in India at 5’7” x 7’10”.
Betta K is a self-taught multimedia artist working between London and Athens, and 1984 comes out of a practice that circles love, rejection and desire in a loud, over-coloured world. She takes her cues from people, streets, sunrises, art history and rock and roll, and the rug keeps that pop-art directness rather than smoothing it out.
At 5’7” x 7’10” this is the most compact of the Malcusa designs we carry — a rug for a bedroom, a study or under a small seating group rather than a full living room. New Zealand wool and bamboo silk, hand-tufted in India over six to eight weeks.
