The Mother by Known Work

Drawing from the mother as a symbol of the family unit we wanted to explore the idea of heirloom, heritage and lineage. Taking an abstracted anthropologioal approach to this we were looking to explore the mediums of lace and ornate metal work to create an illuminated shroud. Using embroidered ivory linen and bronze the fixture is hung to extend onto the floor, and beyond its bounds to facilitate connection and pause.
