‘Cells’ refers to the hexagonal prismatic cell system of honeycomb. As well as referencing shape and structure, the shade sections are also soaked and finished in beeswax, offering a drum skin like texture and warm glow even without illumination. Specks of pollen are embedded in the bark pressed Washi paper. The cell shades are crafted individually, fastened together and secured onto a solid timber base, making it a permanently configured structure.
